Horse Brain Human Brain |
By Janet L. Jones, PhD |
Personal Reflections:
I love this book. She examines how our brains differ from horses and how we can better understand them by understanding these differences. She explains how horses process information, communicate with each other, and with humans. She also explains how horses deal with emotions and social situations differently from humans. She stresses, throughout the book, that positive relationships built on mutual respect and trust are more meaningful than dominance or fear. This is a core understanding of natural horsemanship. |
True Unity |
By Tom Dorrance |
Personal Reflections:
If you practice any kind of horsemanship, you have heard of Tom Dorrance. It is so informative to hear Tom explain the power of true unity and communication with a horse in his own words. Tom struggles to get people to understand what unity is, but emphasizes the importance of settling the horse spirit in order to create trust. This must be done before any other training. |
